I’ve been repairing all manner of fretted instruments since 1990. In 1995 my shop became a certified Martin Guitar repair center. Neck resets, necks without adjustable truss rods, the mandolin family of instruments, bar fret work, and restoration of Brazilian rosewood instruments from the 1960s and earlier are my specialties. You can read more about my training and background here. For work covered by Martin warranty, please first call Martin at 888-433-9177 to make sure that your guitar is registered. If you are the original owner but have not submitted your registration information you can fill out Martin’s online registration form here.

My repair rate is $85 per hour. Evaluation and estimates are free. Appointments for repairs can be made on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, 10am – 5pm. Please call 510-364-3112 or email for an appointment. I accept cash, checks and credit cards. My turnaround time varies with my repair workload but for non-elaborate repairs is about 2 weeks. I may not stock your preferred gauge and alloy of strings so if it is convenient, please bring a new set of strings in with your repair. The shop is in a loft/warehouse building; when you arrive call 510-364-3112 from your cell phone or, if you do not carry one, use the building intercom which takes about 20 seconds to connect to me. The intercom dialing code is the # button, then 36. The entrance is the single door gate next to the intercom, not at the flight of stairs that look like the building entrance. First and 3rd Wednesdays there is street cleaning between 12:30-3:30pm on the shop side of Miller Ave; don’t get a ticket, they are pricey!
